Poster Session

30 August – 4 September 2026, Grindelwald, Switzerland

The poster session is an essential part of the Summer School. All participants present a poster about their ongoing research. The poster session includes three steps:

  1. Abstract submission
Submit an extended abstract of your poster by 15 June 2026. See details below.
  2. Poster production
Design and print your poster, bring it to the Summer School. See details below.
  3. Presentation
Give a very short oral presentation of your poster in the plenum (2 – 3 minutes).

1. Submission of revised abstracts

All participants submit an abstract of their poster by 15 June 2026. The abstract will be included in the abstract volume of the Summer School. The length of the abstract is 300 – 500 words plus title, authors, affiliation and references; total length max. two pages. Please note that figures and images are not allowed.

The final version has to be "camera ready", i.e. it must use the conference template and follow the submission guidelines otherwise it will not be published in the proceedings.
You will also use the ConfTool system to upload the final version of your abstract.

  1. Create your final abstract as a Word document (.docx) using the conference template and save on your disk.
  2. Generate a PDF from the Word document created in the first step and save on your disk.
  3. Login into the Conftool https://www.conftool.com/scss2026 with your credentials.
  4. Upload the two files (.pdf and .docx): Click on "Your Application" and then click on highlighted "Final Upload". Now you can upload both mandatory files into the Conftool.
  5. Click on "Upload File(s) and Save Data" button.

In case you are unable to upload your final abstract into Conftool, please send an email to scss.oeschger@unibe.ch.

2. Poster production

Your poster may present your ongoing research (concept, first results) or your mature and completed project: What do you do? Where do you need help and suggestions? Take the opportunity to get opinions, suggestions, and advice for your project. Create a poster with the research questions and the concept of the project in case you have just started your work.

The format is DIN A0 portrait (84.1 x 118.9 cm). The maximum extents are 110 cm horizontal x 140 cm vertical.

Print the poster and bring it to the Summer School.
Alternatively, you may have your poster printed at a commercial printing service in Grindelwald (www.sutterdruck.ch); costs are approximately 60 CHF/Euro/US$ and are charged to you (not to the Summer School, no refund). Please note that payment in advance might be required, which may take several days. The PDF of your poster should be sent to the service not later than Monday, 24 August 2026.
