Two new visiting scientists at the OCCR

9 September 2013

The Oeschger Centre regularly hosts visiting scientists. Currently we have two guests: Franco Biondi from the University of Nevada, Reno, USA, and Dietmar Wagenbach from the Institute of Environmental Physics of the University of Heidelberg, Germany.

Franco Biondi stays with the group for Dendroclimatology at the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL until October. His research interests are in droughts, vegetation-climate interactions and the climate of the last 2000 years.

Dietmar Wagenbach is a guest at the group for Past Climate and Biogeochemical Studies on Ice Cores from September until January 2014. His research interests are in ice and climate and he will teach a course in glaciology as part of the Oeschger Lectures. The course will deal with a variety of paleo-climate signs, specifically carried by Alpine glaciers.
