Application and Registration
Please note that you will benefit from the early bird reduction, in case you complete your application before the 17 April 2023. The final date for handing in your complete application is 15 May 2023. You will be notified in early June 2023 whether your application was successful.
Your registration is completed and valid only once payment has been received.

Scholarships for Students from Canadian and US-American universities
There are a limited number of travel grants (1240 CHF per person) available for students, who are enrolled at a university in Canada or the USA (they do not need to be Canadian or US citizens). Students are asked to hand in their application as usual and confirm in the application form that they apply for a travel grant. As soon as the selection process is completed, they will be informed whether their application was successful.
Non-Flight Travel-Grants
The University of Bern is striving to reduce its CO2 emissions as much as possible, whilst maintaining its support for international exchange and cooperation. To this aim, UniBE International offers financial support to summer school participants who will travel to Bern without using air travel. Participants not living in Switzerland can apply for a travel grant.
Condition: You travel to Bern by public transport (train, bus, ship) without using air travel.
Depending on the country of origin, a maximum of the amount indicated in the scholarship list can be reimbursed. Participants will receive the money after they have arrived in Bern and handed in copies of their tickets. Bursaries are granted on a first come, first serve basis. Participants traveling to Bern by airplane are encouraged to compensate for their CO2 emissions.
Cancellation Policy
The following deadlines and penalties apply to individuals who have applied and have been accepted to the program, but who subsequently withdraw:
Cancellations up until 24 July 2023: The University of Bern will refund the fee paid less the sum of 100 Swiss francs to cover administration and banking fees.
Cancellations after 24 July 2023: There will be no refund.
Selection Criteria
The number of participants is limited to 36. We aim to have a lively, international and interdisciplinary group of participants with a balanced number of students of both genders from all of the listed disciplines and from different countries.
