Travelling to Bern
By train
Bern is connected to the European rail system and easily reachable from most major cities in Europe, directly or with change in Basel or Zurich. For longer international journeys, there is also the option of travelling by night trains. Within Switzerland, the railway network is well developed and most places can be reached by train or bus.
By plane
Switzerland is easy to reach by plane. There are flights to Zurich (Zürich Airport), Basel (EuroAirport Basel, Mulhouse, Freiburg) and Geneva (Genève Aéroport). All three airports are connected to the rail and bus networks and Bern can be reached from all airports in approximately 2 hours:
- From Zurich Airport: By train, direct with IC 8 or IC 1
- From EuroAirport: By bus B50 to Basel SBB main station, then direct with IC61 or ICE
- From Genève Aéroport: By train, direct with IC 1 or IR 15
By car
The well-developed road network makes it possible to arrive by car. On Swiss highways, it is mandatory to have the Vignette that can be purchased at the border and costs 40 CHF.

5 min from Bern main station. Take the elevator direction University / Grosse Schanze.
