Climate policy workshop


What are the specificities of empirical climate policy research? How to assess the integration, preferences and strategies of (local) actors? How to design appropriate research and survey questions?  How to conduct a social network analysis based on survey data?

The Workshop on Survey Design and Social Network Analysis in Climate Policy is designed to address practical questions of empirical research. It is open for Master- and PhD-students as well as senior scientists interested in:

  • policy analysis in general
  • environmental policy and climate change research in particular 
  • the conceptualization of research and survey designs 
  • the design and application of Social Network Analysis

After a general introduction in climate policy research and social network analysis, we present three case studies, their respective surveys, and related analysis/results/publications.

Information for Master and PhD Students

This is an Oeschger Lecture. To gather 1.5 ECTS, participants are asked to write a short paper outlining a research design following the presented elements within the weeks following the workshop.


The workshop takes place at the University of Bern, UniS Buidling, Schanzeneckstrasse 1, Room A 022, 5 minutes from the main train station.
