Conference Registration and abstract submission

Submission of abstracts and registration for the conference involves the following steps (see details below):
a) Abstracts can be submitted via the 'EKAS' online tool. This first step includes as well a basic registration.
b) The second step is the registration and payment by credit card for the conference and the side events. This is administered via the external 'ConfTool' web application only. To use the tool, you will be asked to create a personal, password-protected account.
c) Note the opportunity for young scientist presenters to apply for a grant.

Deadline for abstract submission: 11th November 2018
Deadline for conference registration: 1st January 2019

a) Abstract submission / Call for papers

Oral and poster presentations are welcome. Accepted oral presentations should not exceed 20 minutes. Posters should be submitted in A0 size (portrait orientation). The colloquium language is English.
Young scholars are particularly encouraged to apply and participate in the discussion, which will be of growing importance in the future of archaeological research.
Abstracts must not exceed 500 words; excess text will be truncated. Please do not use special characters other than provided in the form editor; they will not be corrected manually.

b) Conference registration and fees

The registration fee includes workshop registration, materials, coffee breaks, and the conference dinner.

  • Conference registration fee for presenting participants: 60 CHF 
  • Conference registration fee for non-presenting participants: 100 CHF
  • BA and MA students are exempt from the conference registration fee.

The colloquium will be restricted to max. 60 participants. 
Payments can only be made by credit card!

c) Grants for travel and accommodation

Thanks to the Intermediate Staff Association of the University of Bern (MVUB) there will be a grant to support travel and accommodation expenses for young scientists presenting a talk or poster at the colloquium.
Who do we think are young scientists?

  • Bachelor and Master students
  • PhD students
  • early Postdocs (max. 4 years after PhD)

How much can you ask for?

  • max. of 400 CHF

If you want to apply for funding we need:

  • an abstract submission
  • a short CV as PDF (max. 3 pages)
  • a budget of your concretely planned travel and accommodation expenses.

Please send us the necessary data to dab@iaw.unibe.ch with the subject “Applicaton: financial support [your name]” AND please name the title of your presentation in the Mail.
